Exciting Opportunity: Planner for Major Infrastructure Projects in Scotland
Our client, a well-established leader in civil engineering and infrastructure, renowned for its dedication to staff development, low turnover rates, and focus on renewable projects, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner. This role is integral to the planning and delivery of a major highways project in North Scotland, encompassing key elements such as earthworks, drainage, access tracks, structures, and utilities.
Based at the head office in North Lanarkshire with regular site visits to North Scotland, the position includes a company car and subsistence package.
Key Responsibilities Tender Stage:- Collaborate with the Planning Lead or Bid Manager to ensure all programmes adhere to planning standards and guidelines.
- Define the planning scope, constraints, and key contract requirements.
- Identify key quantities and factors impacting schedules.
- Work closely with Operations and Estimators to establish construction outputs and working hours.
- Develop methods of construction, sequencing, and commissioning alongside the Operations and Bid teams.
- Prepare critical planning documents, including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports.
- Create tender programmes and supporting information in line with tender specifications.
- Reconcile resources, using resource-levelling techniques as necessary.
- Liaise with third parties to resolve potential issues.
- Manage and maintain the Contract Programme, ensuring compliance with planning standards.
- Define the planning strategy and sequencing of Contract Programme activities.
- Share the Contract Programme with the Project Lead and Project Team for client updates.
- Oversee all project planning and programming to ensure successful contract delivery.
- Support BIM Coordinators with project or tender deliverables.
- Implement lean visual programmes to assist the Project Team in meeting deadlines, improving productivity, performance, and safety.
- Experience: Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Site Agent, with significant planning expertise in small to medium construction and engineering projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in planning techniques, tools, and familiarity with tender and contract documentation.
- Project Management Knowledge: Strong ability in planning, programming, progress monitoring, and risk management.
- Leadership: Demonstrated capability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
- Construction Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the construction market, including methods, equipment, plant, and labour requirements.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all business levels.
- Qualifications: A relevant CSCS card is essential.
