A small (40+) specialist engineering company who have realized a solid growth and expansion over the past 18 months are currently seeking a Production Engineer who will primarily be working in the main Production and Calibration Department. Ideally, we are looking for a self-motivated individual who works well on their own but is also a team player, happy to work with the team and assist other Engineers when required

Job Summary

As the Production Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing processes for our Production Department. You will work closely with the design, quality, and production teams to develop automated systems covering testing, calibration, heat treatment, data collection and product identification (amongst many others) to ensure efficient, high-quality and cost-effective production. Your role will involve continuous improvement initiatives, process development and troubleshooting to maintain the highest standards in product reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

Process Optimization: Develop, implement and optimize manufacturing processes for production, ensuring high efficiency and quality standards.

Quality Control: Monitor and improve production processes to minimize defects and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions, process deviations and material defects.

Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for process improvements, cost reductions and waste minimization using lean manufacturing principles.

Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to production staff, including training on new equipment and processes.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date production documentation, including process instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, R&D, and quality teams to facilitate the transition of new products from development to full-scale production.

Software design and Support: STRONG Knowledge of Labview and / or Python essential to help write and manage calibration software and databases.

Experience / Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field. Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in a Production Engineering role, preferably in sensors or related manufacturing.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), ERP/MRP systems and knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding and assembly.

Software Knowledge: Labview and or Python experience - ESSENTIAL

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving production issues.

Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all aspects of production.

Lean Manufacturing: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and experience in implementing process improvements.
