Position Overview:
iO Associates is excited to be partnering with Leap.AI to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for their talented engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components for various product lines. Your expertise will be vital in solving complex engineering challenges and contributing to the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Development:
    • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, or similar).
    • Develop and refine mechanical designs to meet performance, cost, and manufacturability criteria.
  • Prototyping & Testing:
    • Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and performance specifications.
    • Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure product quality and functionality.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, product managers, and manufacturing, to ensure integrated design solutions.
    • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and design workshops.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Analyze and resolve design-related issues, including material selection, tolerances, and assembly processes.
    • Utilize FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools to optimize designs.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, testing protocols, and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to mechanical design.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies to drive innovation in design practices.
    • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the establishment of best practices within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Over 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in product design and the industrial automation sector.
    • Proven track record of successfully guiding products from concept to production.
    • Strong emphasis on design for manufacture.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, AutoCAD, etc.).
    • Familiarity with FEA and CFD software for performance analysis.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
