Aggregate Materials Testing Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated site Laboratory Aggregates Materials Technician to join our team. Previous experience of working within a Quarry and/or accredited Aggregate testing laboratory would be required.

The position is based in our materials testing laboratory atFife Silica Sands, Clackmannanshire, FK10 3QD.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, hard working with a hands-on approach to work and possess a strong and flexible work ethic to support the needs of the business.

You must have effective communication, problem solving and IT skills. You will be involved with customers and colleagues at various level in the business and therefore be able to work confidently and courteously within a team and on your own initiative. You will be required to keep accurate legible records of all works undertaken, work within documented QA/QC systems in-line with IS09001:2015 accreditation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Aggregate Grading and further tests of various Industrial sands and samples, for example; Glass Making, Asphalt and Concrete sands.
  • Sampling of raw materials
  • Sampling of in-process production materials for laboratory testing.
  • Completion of test reports and certificates, including all calculations.
  • Non-conformance reporting.
  • Liaise with plant staff, Managers and Directors.
  • Work within in-house QA systems.
  • Maintain high levels of health and safety in line with company policies and Industry standards.

Essential skills/competencies:

  • Certificate in Construction Materials Testing.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 accredited laboratory standards would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience of laboratory testing of aggregates would be required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • A driving licence is essential.
