Summary

The Hinton Portfolio of National Trust properties, spread across Hampshire & West Sussex is looking for a new Senior Communications & Marketing Officer to help us deliver our ambitious targets and shout about our exciting programme of events to new and current audiences. You’ll be expected to create and deliver a marketing and content plan that aligns with our Property Programming Plan and wider strategy.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Duration: This is a permanent role which offers realistic salary progression based on annual reviews.

Salary: £26,832 per annum

What it's like to work here

The Hinton Portfolio comprises of Hinton Ampner, Uppark House & Garden, Winchester City Mill and Ludshott & Selborne Commons. We have two pay for entry sites with glorious mansions, priceless collections and stunning gardens; one city centre water mill; and several pockets of beautiful countryside providing access to nature for everyone. The role sits as part of the spirited Visitor Operations & Experiences Team who lead for all aspects of the visitor journey across the portfolio.

The role is based on property as you’ll form one of the trained Duty Managers. We operate 7 days a week, 363 days a year and you will be expected to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. 

What you'll be doing

You’ll be a strategic and analytical Marketing & Communications professional who can lead for the creation and delivery of your own marketing and content plan that supports the Hinton Portfolio’s ambitious growth targets and our wider conservation purpose. 

Experience in website content management would be ideal as well as an understanding of audience insights and needs to benefit our programming plans. You’ll help to generate positive press coverage, working to raise the profile of our properties, and attract visitors. Social media is a big part of marketing our properties, particularly Instagram, Facebook and X, so you’ll need to be confident with using these platforms.

You’ll be expected to get out onto sites to see conservation in action, talk to our teams and visitors to understand what’s important to them and shout about all the great stuff we’re doing on property. You will also be the first point of contact for media enquiries and ensure the protection of the National Trust brand.

Who we're looking for
  • Good written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong interpersonal skills: good relationship building and networking abilities to work with external partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to develop creative and engaging communication media  Good understanding of how to build an engaging webpage  
  • Experience in social media management: to build, manage and evaluate social media presence, campaigns and metrics  
  • Strong attention to detail: to ensure accuracy of information and consistency across all communication materials  
  • Flexibility, meaning a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.  
  • Experience of creating and delivering a marketing plan for a visitor attraction or similar. 
  • You’ll have budget management experience and understand the impact of staying within our budgets whilst still delivering our ultimate targets.
