SF Recruitment are delighted to be exclusively partnered with a privately owned, high-growth specialist group of businesses (group t/o approx £55m) based in Burton-on-Trent. This organisation are enjoying a sustained period of growth (both organic and through strategic acquisition).

This is an exciting time to join the business and work closely with the CFO and Financial Controller, assuming a pivotal role within the finance team, holding comprehensive responsibility for overseeing and managing the company's finance function. You will be responsible for day-to-day finance operations, undertaking a crucial role in forecasting and business plans. A core aspect of this responsibility is ensuring the precision, consistency, and timely execution of financial reporting processes.

  • Salary - c.£55,000 p.a d.o.e.

  • Hybrid working (ideally 4 days per week in office, however variance to this is available subject to discussion)

About the role:

Key responsibilities will include:

Day-to-Day Finance Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to established processes.

Production of Accurate and Timely Management Accounts

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery. Include comprehensive variance analysis, forecasts, and commentary to provide actionable insights to the senior leadership team.

Payroll

  • Oversee and the end-to-end process of weekly and monthly payroll alongside the FC, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely disbursement to employees.

Budgetary Preparation

  • Assist Financial Controller in the preparation of annual budgets across all group companies.
  • Collaborate with relevant operations teams to contribute to the preparation of the company's Financial Plan and budgets.

Forecasting

  • Regularly monitor the company's financial position, develop forecasting models, and provide insights to support proactive decision-making. Ensure forecasts align with business strategy and goals.

Overseeing Tax and Regulatory Compliance

  • Work closely with external professional advisor's to oversee tax and regulatory compliance, ensuring the company operates within legal frameworks.

Liaison with External Advisor's

  • Engage with external stakeholders including bankers, insurance, legal, and other advisor's to ensure smooth collaboration and compliance with external requirements.

Supporting the Financial Controller

  • Providing financial insights to support the FC in delivering information to drive business decisions.
  • Respond to all requests from the FC and CFO, including ad hoc requirements, monthly/quarterly routines, and forecasting/planning.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in profit/spend, cost reductions, methodology, and information systems.
  • Implement changes to enhance overall financial efficiency.

About You

You will be a full qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) accountant with minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in a comparable role (ideally as a Finance Manager or similar in title) within an SME environment.

You will be proficient in the use of accountancy software (Sage/Xero or similar) alongside Excel, able to demonstrate a sound range of both commercial and financial leadership skills. Prior experience of integrating financial systems would be advantageous, as would experience in manufacturing costing models.

Prior industry experience in the manufacturing or automotive industry would be advantageous however not essential.
