Maintenance Engineer

Location: Alton The role is Monday - Friday 07:30 - 04:30 with occasional Calls outs.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Keeping our production lines running smoothly by conducting routine scheduled maintenance and responding swiftly to equipment faults.
  • Work with the Lead Maintenance Engineer to design and implement effective maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods.
  • Utilizing Engineering system (Maintain X) to track job progress, monitor PMs, and manage stock.
  • Providing weekly updates on work completed.
  • Diagnosing breakdown problems, installing new parts, ensuring equipment is working correctly, and performing quality inspections on completed tasks.
  • Communicating effectively with all departments, suppliers, subcontractors, and colleagues.
  • Arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings, or components.
  • Managing maintenance tools, stores, and equipment.
  • Handling emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs.
  • Adhering to all H&S legislation.
  • Assisting with the installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.
  • Participating in Production/Engineering meetings as needed.
  • Performing facilities/electrical maintenance work when required.
  • Collaborating with production and Production management teams.
  • May be requied to travel to sister site in Telford.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Candidate Skills and experience:

  • Experience in an FMCG environment working with equipment like VFFS bagging machines, multi-head weighers, and conveyors.
  • Experience with PLC Inverter drives and associated control panel equipment (safety PLC/PILZ relays/Overload breakers and contactors).
  • BTEC/HNC or equivalent in Electromechanical/Multiskilled Engineering is essential.
  • Apprenticeship or training in HM Forces is desirable.
  • 17th/18th Edition Electrical Installation
  • Forklift and Mobile Platform qualifications, ATEX, COMPEX, IOSH Working Safely, and Ladder Inspection certifications are highly desirable.
