Job DetailsJob Title:Learning Support Assistant (LSA)Department:Additional Learning SupportCampus:AltonSalary:Grade 3 Spine Point 10 - £22,507.70Contract Type:A range of hours available from Part time to Full time (term time only)About the RoleThe primary function of this role is to provide a high quality pro-active academic and pastoral learning support service for learners who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This rewarding role involves the delivery of one to one and small group support, both in and out of class, in collaboration with a wide range of different teaching and learning support professionals.Responsibilities You will be responsible for:- To provide a high quality pro-active academic learning support service to learners who have additional learning needs.
- To ensure that all learners receiving support have the opportunity to achieve as well as their peers and are able to stay as independent as possible.
- To provide learning support that contributes to an outstanding learner experience from the start of their college journey to progression into further study or employment.
- Provide high quality in class or small group support to learners identified with additional learning needs, under the guidance of the class teacher, in all learning environments across both college sites.
- Work directly with curriculum staff, other support staff, key external stakeholders and agencies to ensure that the learner journey, from start to finish, meets the social, emotional and academic needs of each individual learner.
- Develop an understanding of barriers to learning and the wide range of ways to overcome these; to also develop a comprehensive knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities and the strategies to alleviate these.
- Maths and English to at least level 2
- Educated to at least level 3
- Understanding of factors that create barriers to learning and strategies to overcome these
- Proven track record and experience of effective quality improvement in learning support
- Well-developed ability for problem solving and decision making
- Knowledge and/or experience of disabilities and learning difficulties and strategies to support these
