Are you a SEND teaching assistant with experience in the Early Years? Have you worked with children with additional needs? If so, New Directions Manchester would like to hear from you! We are representing an excellent primary school in the Altrincham area that is looking an exceptional SEND teaching assistant to work with a learner with additional needs in the Early Years.

The ideal SEND teaching assistant will have experience of working with students with additional needs such as: Down's Syndrome and/ or Speech and Language.

We have a range of FREE CPD training courses, from Safeguarding to Autism Awareness, which will teach you the relevant skills and attributes necessary for supporting children in our schools. We will also accept Health&Care, Social Care , Care Worker backgrounds!

Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:

  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Be encouraging and supportive.
  • Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children's development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.

Job Specification:

  • Supervise and provide learning support for children in small groups and on a one to one basis
  • Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
  • Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with the class and engage in activities.

Person Specification

  • A solid understanding of the EYFS curriculum
  • Experience of working with children with additional needs
  • Be outgoing, fun and engaging
  • Willing to support children of all abilities and needs
  • Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
