Electrical Controls and Instrumentation – Biomass Power Generation

Up to £44,000 + Overtime + benefits

MC Technical Recruitment are recruiting for an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician to join a Biomass Power Plant in Scunthorpe. The E,C&I Technician will form part of the maintenance team and will be responsible for conducting planned and reactive maintenance work on all electrical and C&I assets across the power station to ensure maximum plant availability and minimal downtime.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the EC&I Technician your responsibilities will include:

  • Fault finding, repair work and planned and unplanned maintenance on all Electrical assets to maximise plant availability. This includes motors, drives, switchgear, transformers as well as C&I plant such as pressure, level, temperature and flow sensors and the sites control systems (DCS and PLCs etc)
  • Working alongside other Technicians and Engineers to ensure an accurate daily schedule is produced and worked to
  • Work with the site engineering team on plant improvement projects and upgrades
  • Assisting during site outages / shutdowns when required
  • Maintaining accurate records using the site CMMS
  • Managing and directing site contractors as required

This role is a days-based role working Monday to Friday 8-4 with a great opportunity for some overtime.

 Experience and Qualifications

  • A time served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering subject such as electrical engineering or similar
  • A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC level or similar
  • Proven hands-on maintenance experience with 3 phase motors, generators, switchgear, transmitters, sensors and LV plant in a heavy engineering environment e.g., power plant, refinery, paper mill, steel works, chemical or manufacturing etc
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., health and safety and environmental etc.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and encourage collaborative working relationships.
