A highly regarded independent Chartered Commercial Insurance Broker with over 20 offices nationwide are looking to appoint an SME Account Handler to their established team. They seek a driven and motivated professional with previous insurance experience to support the needs of a diverse and interesting group of clients.

This role would suit an experienced Personal Lines Account Handler looking to transition into Commercial Lines.

As an SME Account Handler / Executive, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of SME clients and providing support for specialist schemes business.

The Account Handler is the first point of contact for all external queries and issues and will require the skills and knowledge to meet client expectations.

About the role:

  • Manage a portfolio of SME clients, ensuring their insurance needs are met effectively and efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique insurance needs and providing them with personalised solutions.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and analysis to determine appropriate coverage for clients.
  • Negotiate with insurance underwriters to obtain the best terms and conditions for clients.
  • Prepare and present insurance proposals to clients, explaining coverage options and pricing.
  • Handle claims on behalf of clients, ensuring prompt and fair settlement.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in insurance regulations to provide clients with the most relevant and accurate information.

Key skills/experience required:

  • Proven experience within the insurance sector, either within Personal Lines or Commercial insurance, knowledge of E-Trade package policies would be beneficial.
  • Proficiency in using insurance platforms and client management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and manage client portfolios effectively.
  • Understanding of compliance regulations, including FCA regulations and Consumer Duty.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and influence clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach to client management and new business development.
  • Cert CII qualification or willingness to work towards it, with business support.
