Functional Safety Engineer, Coventry, Warwick, Warwickshire, 12-month full time contract

  • A fantastic opportunity for a Functional Safety Engineer to work on a long-term contract basis delivering functional safety services through the whole-vehicle development lifecycle.  
  • 12-month full time contract role with possible extensions, up to £65.00 per hour (Inside IR35).
  • Work from home flexibility 3 or 4 days per week depending on project requirements.

This Contract Functional Safety Engineer role would suit a Functional Safety Engineer with a strong hardware engineering / electrical / electronic engineering background and experience of working on any form of vehicle engineering projects - passenger cars, on road vehicles, off-highway vehicles, military / defence vehicles, or tracked wheeled vehicles etc….

Your background as a Functional Safety Engineer:

  • We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer with a strong hardware engineering / electrical engineering background.
  • Previous experience of working within the vehicle engineering sector is preferred – this can be passenger cars, on road vehicles, off-highway vehicles, military / defence vehicles, or tracked wheeled vehicles etc….
  • A strong level of knowledge and understanding of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
  • You are likely to be degree qualified in an electrical engineering, electronic engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or similar engineering discipline.

Functional Safety Engineer responsibilities:

  • Take a lead role in the executing of functional safety activities on customer projects.
  • Provide a strong level of hardware engineering expertise and have an active role in developing ISO 26262 Part 4 and Part work-products.
  • Developing technical safety concepts including the specification of technical safety requirements.
  • Safety analysis including FTA, FMEA, DFA, and hardware metrics.
