Our client is a family-run business based in Sutherland, Scotland, specialising in the processing and supply of wild venison and game meats. We are looking for an experienced Quality Auditor within the food industry to join the team on a permanent basis.

Established in 1982, they source premium products from over 130 sporting estates across the Scottish Highlands. Renowned for combining traditional butchering skills with modern technology, the company is celebrated for producing high-quality, fresh venison cuts.   • Great working hours:
    • Off-Season (March-September): 7am - 3:30pm.
    • Peak Season (October-February): 7am - 4:30pm.

Main Duties:

Food Safety and Quality

  • Conduct audits and manage supplier relationships to ensure adherence to food safety standards.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of food safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain the site HACCP systems in line with industry best practices and customer requirements.
  • Investigate and establish standards for quality, health, and safety to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Handle responsibilities related to health certificates and export declarations (training will be provided).
  • Ensure consistent compliance with customer and third-party audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Factory Manager on a weekly basis to monitor operations and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers and suppliers regarding food safety, providing expert advice on technical and food safety aspects of products.
  • Identify and address the training needs of production staff in collaboration with other managers.

Knowledge, Training, Attributes, and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience working within the food industry.
  • Strong decision-making and people management skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work within specified timelines.
  • Punctual, reliable, and dependable.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable (Training will be provided where necessary)

  • Previous experience working with venison and/or small game.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
