Ready to develop the team around you?

They're the only UK-based grower to partner with a company providing new and innovative growing methods, and they want you to be a part of this.

Tell me more
You'll be reporting to the director and have 2 supervisors reporting to you. Between these 3, there are over 60 years of experience, so there's lots of support when you join.

As Container Grower Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the production across 3Ha of protected growing. You'll be growing a variety of crops, producing over 6 million plants annually.

You'll be managing processes from seeding through to picking. You'll utilise your technical growing knowledge, covering irrigation, pest and disease management and more.

They work with a knowledgeable external agronomist who is there regularly to work with you and provide support.

Health and safety will be part of the day-to-day. You'll be working with the team to make sure everything is compliant.

You'll be having your say when it comes to planning. They want to hear your thoughts on crop production plans, making sure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goal.

The last person was here for over 25 years, so this role doesn't come around very often.

What do I need?

This is a hands-on role. Whilst some of your time will be spent in the office, they want you to lead by example. You'll be happy to get your hands dirty, pitch in to support the team and also train them where needed.

This is a blended role, mixing technical growing expertise with people leadership. You'll be someone who knows how to grow plants at a commercial scale but also how to bring a team together.

Whilst this role focuses mainly on young plant production of hardy ornamentals, you don't need to be an expert in all things trees.

If you have experience working in a protected growing environment, whether it be fruit, vegetables or ornamentals, it could be the role for you. As interest in the crop is a must, though!

PA1/PA6 and forklift tickets would be a bonus.

On the people management side, you'll have experience in managing or supervising a small team. You'll be the sort of person that leads by examples. Whilst you will be able to hold people to account, you'll also want to do this in a productive way that creates a fun environment.
