Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in container dockside operations and be proficient in handling trailer containers lifted down from overhead cranes in a dockyard environment.

Candidate will need to have experience in locking onto the skeletal trailer the container, so is secured safely. This role involves tramping, and candidates must have a clean DVLC card with no DD (Dangerous Driving) or DR (Drink Driving) endorsements. CPC/Tacho required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Container Dockside Operations: Safely and efficiently handle trailer containers lifted down from overhead cranes in the dockyard. Lock securely to base trailer.
  • Tramping: Perform long-distance driving duties, ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, and any incidents.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, ensuring client satisfaction with each delivery.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 1 (C+E) License: Must hold a valid Class 1 driving license.
  • Experience: Proven experience in container dockside operations.
  • Clean DVLC Card: No DD (Dangerous Driving) or DR (Drink Driving) endorsements.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including loading and unloading containers.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with dockyard safety procedures and regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends if required.
