About the Company:
Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary main contractor based in Kent. Specialising in delivering high-quality construction projects across a variety of sectors, they have built a strong reputation for excellence and attention to detail. Their MEP Department plays a crucial role in providing mechanical and electrical services for residential projects across Kent and beyond.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s MEP team and work on projects up to circa £15m in value. In this role, you will oversee cost management, procurement, and all commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical projects within the residential sector. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist at the estimation stage on a range of project aspects.
  • Oversee cost management of mechanical and electrical projects from inception through to completion.
  • Review and assess contractor/supplier quotations to ensure best value.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement and lead contract negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, ensuring operations are delivered “back-to-back.”
  • Prepare and submit valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with cost, time, and quality.
  • Provide accurate reporting on project costs, progress, and cash flow.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams to foster effective collaboration.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) sector, ideally in residential construction.
  • Qualifications: A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred. RICS or equivalent accreditation is desirable.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of M&E services, procurement, and cost management within the construction industry.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • IT Proficiency: Proficient in the use of relevant industry software (e.g., MS Office, Trimble, or similar).
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
