SEMH Teacher - Ashford

Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with a desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? A school in Ashford is seeking a committed SEMH Teacher to join our team and help shape the future for young people aged 5 to 16.

About the School:This school provides treatment for children suffering from trauma, abuse and mental health needs. The community provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people with complex emotional needs.

Role: SEMH TeacherAs an SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an inclusive, therapeutic, and engaging learning environment for children with diverse emotional and behavioural needs. Your role will involve:

  • Teaching a small group of pupils aged 5-16 with complex SEMH needs.
  • Designing and delivering personalised lesson plans to meet the specific learning and emotional needs of each pupil.
  • Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of therapists, carers, and support staff to create an integrated approach to each child's education and wellbeing.
  • Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies to ensure each pupil reaches their full potential.
  • Supporting students in managing their emotional regulation and social interactions within the classroom.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH or complex needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children who have experienced early life trauma.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a therapeutic community.

Requirements:

  • Hold an enhanced child-only DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
