About the Role:We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Worker to join our team at a specialist SEN school in Ashford, Kent. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with a range of special educational needs, including complex needs. As an SEN Support Worker, you will provide support in both educational and personal care settings, helping to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for children to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a variety of special educational needs (SEN), including those with complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as needed, ensuring the comfort, dignity, and safety of students.
  • Support students in their academic development, helping them engage with their curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and other staff.
  • Collaborate with other support staff, teachers, and parents to implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Help maintain a safe and positive learning environment that promotes student wellbeing and development.
  • Participate in school activities, including outings and extracurricular events.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to support students with personal care needs and complex needs.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to making a difference in the lives of students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive and flexible approach to working with diverse groups of children.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a school or care setting.
  • Understanding of different SEN needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), physical disabilities, or medical needs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
