SHEQ Manager (Telecoms/ Fibre)Location: Ashington - Northumberland & County DurhamSalary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Company Vehicle + Benefits.Benefits:  full training, tools, PPE, Pension  ROLE SUMMARY  Reporting to the Operations Director all instances of non-compliance. You will be building the company full fibre network in Northumberland and surrounding areas by installing duct network, Armoured fibre cables, identifying network blockages to then repair and more.  The SHEQ manager oversees the safety, health environment, and quality assurance side of the business, they will develop, manage, supervise and coordinate work systems to ensure that the production or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the working practices of the company are delivered to the 18001 Safety Standards implemented.    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Determine the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the office and Sites SHEQ management programme and systems.
  • Creating a Safety First health and safety culture companywide - promoting incident reporting.
  • To complete prevention inspections on a regular basis and ensure records are maintained of same.
  • To develop a monthly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs.
  • Full completion of duties of CDM Coordinator as required by the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007.
  • Full responsibility for Company preparations for monthly and Quality audits.
  • Conducts occupational health and safety-related surveys e.g. noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and makes associated recommendations.
  • Oversee associated telecommunication network build.
  • Oversee Excavating in the Highways/footways complying with NRSWA and HSG47.
  • Provide solutions to onsite issues that may arise during the construction and maintenance of networks.
  • Able to read comprehensive job packs provided by the planning department.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, ISO certifications, industry standards, and legal & regulatory obligations.
  • A strong understanding of what is required to hit ISO standards and implementing them across the company - continually developing current processes and systems.
  • Compliance with SROH (Specification for Reinstatement of Openings in Highways).
  • Ensure all company operatives carry out work safely and confirm POWRA/SSRA has been completed via site audits and retrospectively checking submitted evidence.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety which must also be demonstrated, successful completion and submission of risk assessments, adhere to specific training provided by the company to conduct given tasks.
  • Performing onsite audits across builds to identify unsafe plant, working practices and conditions.
  • Weekly reporting on data collected from internal and external audits. Presenting this is a report to be shared with the client identifying trends and actions.
  • Compile investigation reports on utility strikes and accidents and ensure all documentation is updated.
  • Produce CDM documentation such as construction phase plans and health & safety files.
  • Stay informed on changes in Health and Safety legislation Candidate profile.
  • Performing onsite audits across builds to identify unsafe plant, working practices, conditions and defects.
  • Undertake safety inductions for new starters and sub-contractors.
  • Ensure HA compliance.
  WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:  
  • Health and Safety Qualified (e.g NEBOSH Diploma/Certificate).
  • Experience working in Telecoms Infrastructure.
  • Street Works Supervisor Card required.
  • NRSWA, NPORS Desirable.
  • Full, clean driver's licence.
  • Full clean driving licence held for a minimum of two years.
  • Can work safely protecting themselves and the public.
  • Strong Leadership Skills.
  • Are comfortable within a physically demanding environment.
  • Comfortable with the location of work changing periodically depending on the work pack.
  • Have high standards and work ethics.
  • Can meet agreed standards for Safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Completion of work within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
