Product Designer - Wall Art - Ashton Under Lyne

If you love colour and pattern and have an eye for the next trend we have a unique and exciting design role for you creating and publishing artwork for a leading UK picture manufacturer. You would design and develop finished wall art products using a variety of materials for independent retailers and national stores including John Lewis, Next, TK Max.

The Role:

Based within a purpose built design and print studio you would source and influence artists to create images as well as producing in-house designs. Working alongside the production team you would experiment with different materials and treatments to create cutting edge innovative wall art products.

A working week would involve:

• Sourcing and briefing artists, developing, selecting and manipulating imagery.
• Creating in-house artwork designs using a variety of digital software.
• Developing new mouldings and other wall art materials.
• Develop special applications and treatments that enhance elements of the artwork/product.
• Meeting with National account buyers to develop bespoke product ranges to customer briefs.
• Visiting Trade Shows and Retail Outlets to be fully aware of market trends and gain inspiration.

Essential Experience:

• Experience in a design role and will understand what makes a top selling design.
• Excellent creative judgement with a natural eye for good design, composition, layout and sensitivity to colour.
• Experienced within the Home Furnishing market or Art Gallery / art retailer market.
• MAC experience with Photoshop / In Design knowledge.
• To be highly innovative, commercially aware and passionate about design.
• Able to work on multiple projects at one time, prioritizing workloads and managing a busy design studio.

Desirable Experience:

• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively brief artists verbally and via sketches with customer requirements.
• Possess the confidence to work independently to drive the design process incorporating feedback and product revision to perfect a finished design.
• Ideally some form of art or image related experience, wall covering, greeting card, licensing industry.
