Reed Accountancy and Finance Norwich are seeking an Accounts Payable Senior to oversee our clients purchase ledger function. This role is crucial for managing the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments, and related financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to maintain financial accuracy and compliance.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the purchase ledger, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, credit notes, and payments.
  • Monitor and manage the workflow to meet deadlines and maintain an accurate creditors ledger.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, resolving any queries or discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and review purchase ledger reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile purchase ledger accounts and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Evaluate and improve purchase ledger processes and systems for increased efficiency and accuracy.
  • Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support during audits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory position.
  • Strong knowledge of purchase ledger processes, accounting principles, and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex supplier issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
