Building Services Manager required in Norwich


My client is currently seeking a Building Services Manager that will join a team involved with projects at all stages. A true multidisciplinary contractor design team working on a variety of building and civil engineering projects from £0.1m to £30m+. From education, retail, commercial, industrial, offices, medical and research facilities, to award-winning residential and Passivhaus developments.

You will provide design and commissioning coordination support, design and peer reviews, building physics and embodied carbon advice on various building and engineering projects, whilst supporting the contractor with site checking, verification and validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess tender drawings and specifications for compliance to Building Regulations, Statutory, Health, Environment and Safety Legislation and Requirements.
  • Evaluate pre-contract quotes and technical submissions, reporting on shortfalls, omissions, risk and opportunities.
  • Provide technical assistance to in-house design team.
  • Provide practical support to construction teams.
  • Supervise, survey, co-ordinate and inspect subcontractor activities during construction phase.
  • Coordinate commissioning and handover procedures.
  • Appraise pre-tender building performance (e.g. BREEAM) assessments and advising construction team and responsibilities.
  • Appraise subcontractor design information against design codes, standards, employers requirements and buildability requirements.
  • Assess record drawing and O&M information and manage changes.
  • Check output design information.
  • Review and evaluate energy performance assessments and certification.
  • Mentor and support junior staff.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate written reports and technical documents.
  • Provide input into Construction Group tender submissions and competitive bids.
  • Attend client meetings, tender interviews, progress meetings and represent to R G Carter Group
  • Provide technical inspections, monitoring and testing to help identify and rectify defects.
  • Supporting CDG and Group initiatives.

  • An understanding of TM52, TM54, TM59, and TM65 would be an advantage


Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services
  • ACIBSE, MIET or similar
  • 10 years min experience
