SALARY - 27,000 to 32,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is working with a well-established engineering company based in Aylesbury that is looking to expand its design team by hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a great opportunity to work on innovative projects within a growing company.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
  • Experience in mechanical design, ideally within manufacturing, machinery, or product development.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication, and machining processes.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and tolerances.
  • Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Good problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
  • Producing detailed engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure designs meet technical and project requirements.
  • Conducting design reviews and implementing modifications to improve performance and cost efficiency.
  • Assisting with prototyping, testing, and validation of designs.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
