Prodrive AT's specialities are the design; development and production of smart actuation systems, particularly in the Active Aero and Intelligent Interior domains, as well as vehicle-level programmes. Current activity includes multiple automotive Active Aero and Intelligent Interior projects in the smart actuation domain; an L7e urban delivery vehicle and active torque dynamics for military applications at vehicle-level – as well as a variety of other mobility and low-carbon programmes including hydrogen storage and hydrogen fuel cell systems.

We are looking for an experienced Analysis Engineer to join our team to support a variety of projects across our portfolio.

Key responsibilities

  • This role is primarily concerned with the successful design and development of structures. Experience and knowledge of fluids, thermal, and kinematics is beneficial
  • Derive suitable load cases and targets using first principles and prior experience as well as customer, legislative and internal documents.
  • Support design work and ensure that proposed design solutions meet required static and dynamic load cases
  • Execution and development of test activities, including setup, testing, and reporting, to meet the objectives of the project
  • Work in multi-discipline teams to deliver and support other specialisms in projects
  • Technical liaison with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and internal stakeholders
  • Work to relevant analysis procedures and record analysis results clearly
  • Lead and develop junior team members
  • Extend our analysis capability with your area of expertise (e.g. Structural, Thermal, CFD, MBS)
  • Contribute to continual improvement of analysis processes, analysis tools and techniques

Essential skills/experience

  • Educated to degree in relevant engineering subject or equivalent industry experience
  • Have demonstrable knowledge, experience, or skills in:
    • Beam, shell and solid modelling of structures
    • Linear and non-linear static analyses, and implicit and explicit solutions
    • Yield theory and plasticity behaviour
    • Fatigue theory, behaviour, and analysis; LCF, HCF, and welds
    • Composite materials theory & analysis
    • Contact modelling
    • Optimisation solutions
    • Having a feel for the physics of a system, load paths, expected structural response, and potential failure modes
  • Be proficient with classical hand calculations and free body diagrams
  • Clearly communicate and articulate technical concepts and ideas
  • Build models from scratch
  • Understand the fundamentals of the analysis numerical procedures in your field and their implications
  • Plan analysis activities that will address the problem requirements efficiently and robustly
  • Have experience and knowledge of what typically goes wrong with the various analysis techniques and processes
  • Smartly choose the appropriate analysis techniques and boundary conditions for the problem at hand, balancing speed, accuracy, and ensuring usefulness and appropriateness
  • Ideally, experience with Altair HyperWorks suite
    • (Motionsolve, HyperMesh, Hyperview, Optistruct, Radioss)
    • We are open to skills in similar packages
