To commence JLR's FIA World Rally Raid Championship programme with the iconic Defender brand, we are looking for a Sub Assembly Technician to join the team as they embark on the quest for success competing in the Stock class for Dakar 2026. You'll play a key role in the team, carrying out the build and maintenance of sub-assemblies for the rally cars competing in some of the toughest terrains on earth. You'll become part of a close-knit team and will quickly need to establish rapport and trust with your team-mates. Do not underestimate the scale of the challenge. Extreme stamina, work-ethic and extraordinary drive for results will all be key ingredients to our success. Worldwide travel is an essential part of this role and can be up to 3 weeks per event.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and oversee all sub-assemblies including gearbox and differential
  • Ensure all lifeing records are maintained and updated throughout the event year
  • Support on all events as needed, providing sub assembly and car build support for Dakar and Cross-Country events
  • Ensure that the assemblies & vehicles worked on are carefully handled and that all reasonable care is taken to prevent any form of damage being caused to them
  • Ensure all problems are reported through to engineering or the management team as necessary

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have a previous experience in a similar Sub Assembly role within Motorsport. You will have good knowledge of gearbox, transmission and motorsport sub assemblies, ideally with cross country or previous Dakar experience. You will have a full UK driving licence and be a team player and a good communicator with teammates, engineers and management. Good attention to detail is required, along with a flexible approach and preparedness to work overtime as dictated by the demands of the business.
