Exciting Opportunity: Materials Handling Design Engineer

Are you passionate about innovative logistics solutions? Our client, a leading company in the materials handling industry, is seeking a talented and experienced Draughtsperson to join their dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the design and detailing of cutting-edge materials handling systems, including:
    • Creating and revising general arrangement drawings
    • Designing structural steel frames and sorting platforms
    • Configuring suspension systems and safety measures
    • Developing hardware drawings and standard product configurations
  2. Ensure all designs comply with relevant BS EN ISO standards
  3. Manage and update shared 3D model environments
  4. Collaborate closely with Project Managers to:
    • Identify key deliverables and associated risks
    • Propose solutions for design challenges
    • Consider installation and maintenance access
    • Provide regular progress updates
  5. Create and maintain project documentation, including CBS documents and change records
  6. Liaise with structural engineers for approval of main steel frames and platforms
  7. Specify technical requirements for equipment and coordinate with suppliers
  8. Conduct operational risk assessments in partnership with Project Managers
  9. Support installation teams, including out-of-hours assistance for problem-solving and clarifications
  10. Interact with sales, production, and installation departments to ensure smooth project execution

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong background in mechanical or structural engineering
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software and CAD tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Flexibility to attend on-site meetings and conduct site visits when required
