Mechanical Estimator Responsibilities & Duties:
- Analyse project plans and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates
- Work closely with engineers and project managers to define the scope of work
- Review and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Use estimating software to prepare precise cost estimates
- Select appropriate materials and equipment for projects
- Prepare and submit bid proposals for mechanical projects
- Conduct risk assessments and create mitigation strategies
- Track and manage project budgets and expenditures
- Communicate with suppliers and contractors to obtain pricing information
- Assist in contract negotiations and finalise project scope
- Monitor project progress and report any deviations from the plan
- Provide support during project implementation to ensure adherence to estimated costs
Mechanical Estimator Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
- Strong negotiation skills
- Minimum of 3 year's experience in mechanical estimating
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and estimation software
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and strong organisation skills
