Pastoral Support Officer

We are working with a "Good" Ofsted-rated mainstream secondary school in Barnet who are currently looking to recruit a Pastoral Support Officer to start as soon as possible. The job may go permanent for the right candidate.

The post holder will be working in the pastoral team, in a support and administrative capacity, so must have excellent behaviour management skills and prior experience using SIMS - (School Information Management System). Key responsibilities will include working with teachers to encourage attendance, behaviour, and support students by encouraging the ethos of the school.

The pastoral support officer aspect of the role includes:

  • Dealing with student incidents
  • Daily running of referral and Learning Centre (internal seclusion)
  • Assisting in the running of detentions
  • Restorative Justice meetings

The pastoral administration aspect of the role includes:

  • Monitor punctuality and uniform on a daily basis, specifically students who are placed on punctuality contracts
  • be responsible for contacting parents and arranging parental meetings/sending letters where necessary in relation to pastoral matters, preparing all paperwork
  • Work with form tutors/other school staff to ensure the smooth running of meetings and monitoring
  • assist with the inputting of detentions
  • ensure students receive daily report cards and to monitor
  • attend Inclusion meetings, taking minutes (once every 2 weeks)

The school is near 2 overground stations, 2 tube stations and is also accessible by a number of popular bus routes.

Key skills and experience needed:

  • MUST HAVE experience working within pastoral in schools
  • Professional manner. Proactive and organised.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, patient and meticulous approach
