If so, GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Barnet. This role involves providing essential support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). If you are passionate about helping students overcome challenges and reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities of the SEN TA:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, SEMH, and ADHD, helping them engage with their learning.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to monitor student progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
  • Support students in developing social skills and managing emotional responses.

Requirements of the SEN TA:

  • Experience working with children with ASD, SEMH, and/or ADHD is essential.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with these needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to support students effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education, childcare, or a related field (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3) are desirable but not essential.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students’ individual needs.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
