Role: Maintenance Planner
Hours: 7am 4pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £41,000 to £43,000 per annum Plus Benefits
Location: Commutable from Grimsby, Barton-upon-Humber, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Immingham, Market Rasen, Gainsborough and surrounding areas

A heavy plant manufacturing company who offer challenging and rewarding careers for their large team of Maintenance Engineers & Fitters, are now seeking a Maintenance Planner to work closely with the production & maintenance teams, in order to schedule maintenance efficiently and effectively.

Reporting into the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner will provide analysis and insight into engineering operations to drive continuous improvement and will work closely with the plant engineers and stores team to ensure adequate resources and spares will be available.

The Maintenance Planner will also ensure that maintenance & reliability programmes and project upgrades are carried out safely, efficiently and to the required standard and within budget. In this proactive planning role that will be as much in the factory as in the office, the Maintenance Planner will be the internal champion of the maintenance management system ( CMMS ), ensuring all required information is correctly recorded and in a timely manner.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of the scope and analysis of the required level of planning
  • Conducting site & factory walkabouts to identify and document job requirements.
  • Identifying specific safety issues or hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work.
  • Making sure that safety procedures, including lockout/tagout procedures are available to all maintenance teams, ensuring all aspects of the companys safety policy are incorporated into the job plan.
  • Estimating the required hours on work order tasks, total work order duration and skills required to perform the task.
  • Planning jobs with the appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce
  • Procuring equipment and any specialized tools required to perform the work.
  • Gathering necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications and/or drawings.
  • Determining and arranging the required parts to complete the work.
  • Measuring, monitoring & reporting on backlogs, jobs underway, jobs completed etc

Skills & Experience

  • Good experience working within heavy industrial maintenance or heavy plant environments.
  • Able to demonstrable knowledge & expertise in Maintenance Planning on Industrial or heavy Plant & Equipment.
  • Good technical, fault-finding and diagnostic skills are useful, especially when finding and alleviating root causes of problems.
  • Must be a good team player who can lead others in the resolution of technical issues.
  • Solid CMMS experience expected (Shire, Agility, Maximo or similar).
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is useful.
  • Good understanding and experience of HSE and quality requirements in a maintenance/manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate decision making under pressure.
  • Computer literate (Excel, word, powerpoint, emails, calendars etc).
  • Ability to coach and advise across a variety of cross-functional team members.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and follow-up skills.
  • Competent in problem solving, planning and decision making.
  • Self-directing able to work towards specific goals and objectives with limited daily oversight.
