Role Summary:
As the Regional Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial functions for the region, ensuring efficient management of resources and maximizing financial returns. Working closely with the Operations Director, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the regional business plan while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Operations Director to create and implement the regional business plan.
- Recruit, train, and deploy commercial staff effectively to meet project demands.
- Maximize financial returns through strategic management and planning.
- Identify and manage commercial risks, resolving issues proactively.
- Negotiate and manage terms and conditions of contracts and subcontracts.
- Resolve commercial disputes efficiently while protecting the company's interests.
- Monitor and control business unit costs, ensuring they remain within budget.
- Provide accurate commercial definitions for contracts.
- Maintain healthy cash flow within the business unit.
- Offer guidance and support to the Business Unit Management Team on commercial matters.
- Support estimating and bidding processes with commercial and contractual expertise.
- Contribute to pre-qualification and tender documents, ensuring all commercial requirements are met.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement across all commercial activities.
- Act as a key contact for client senior management, addressing issues as they arise.
- Ensure tender handovers are thorough, communicating risks, pricing strategies, and opportunities to the project team.
- Assist in developing and managing business unit forecasts and the overall business plan.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by line management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated success in a senior commercial role, such as Commercial Manager, Senior Commercial Manager, or Regional Commercial Manager, within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC or bespoke NR contract forms.
- Extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance and engineering projects in a contracting environment.
