Full Time (term time with school holidays off!)

This School is one of the UK’s largest special schools, educating over 300 children and young people aged 3 to 19 with severe and complex learning disabilities, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. In addition to the main site, the school has a number of satellite classes, which are based within local mainstream settings. THE ROLE

As a School Support Worker/Teaching Assistant at the school in Barnsley, you will offer more than classroom support. You will make connections, developrelationships and lead our pupils on the path to a bright future.

This will include working under the guidance of a teacher to support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day. This includes:

· Getting the classroom ready for lessons

· Listening to children read

· Helping those who need extra support

· Preparing resources

· Completing records

· Leading small and whole class group work

THE CANDIDATE

· Experience in a school or similar setting

· Experience working with children/ young people with SEN / SEMH needs would be beneficial

· Confident and able to lead a class in the absence of a Teacher on occasion

· MUST be educated with GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

· NVQ L3 qualification or working towards

- a valid driving license is essential

SALARY/ HOURS

A great salary is on offer of £19,802.11 - £21,106.31 actual annual salary working 33hours per week Mon-Fri term time only + 5 inset days + amazing benefits.Salary will be paid over 12 months and will only include working term time soyou will have almost 2 months off paid every summer!
