We are seeking a skilled Joiner to join our Construction Services team within the local authority in Barnsley. This role is ideal for someone who excels in kitchen joinery works and is committed to providing high-quality craftsmanship and customer service. The successful candidate will organise workloads effectively and work both independently and as part of a team, adhering to Health and Safety regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform all types of joinery work including repairs, maintenance, refurbishments, and new builds.
  • Specialise in kitchen joinery works, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship.
  • Install and repair timber structures such as roof timbers, floor joists, and shuttering.
  • Fit windows, doors, door frames, flooring, walls, sills, skirtings, and architraves.
  • Design and set up hip roofs and install PVCu windows and doors.
  • Apply PVCu trims and finishes and implement security measures for empty properties.
  • Collaborate effectively with other trades, tenants, and managers.
  • Work safely at heights and maintain vehicle stock levels.
  • Submit job-related documents on time and perform Driver/Labourer duties as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 2 in Joinery or equivalent is essential.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Joinery or willingness to obtain it is essential.
  • Apprentice trained in Joinery is desirable.
  • A positive, flexible approach to both team and lone working.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Proven experience in delivering high-standard joinery work.
  • Ability to work at heights and multi-skilling experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency with mobile and digital technology is desirable.
