Key Responsibilities as a Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Support teachers in planning and delivering dynamic, engaging lessons.
  • Provide individual and small group support to students who need extra help.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage active student engagement.
  • Support with preparing learning materials and activities.
  • Safeguard and supervise children within school, in and out of the classroom
  • Work closely with the class teacher to ensure lessons run smoothly

Requirements of the Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a teaching support role or working with children is desirable
  • A proactive and patient approach to supporting children’s learning.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff and parents and foster positive relationships
  • Passionate about helping children develop confidence and achieve their potential
  • Empathetic, compassionate and resilient nature
  • Adaptable and quick-thinking, able to respond effectively to diverse classroom situations
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
