GSL Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to make a real impact on pupils’ learning and development in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities of a Primary Teaching Assistant:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils stay engaged and make progress.

• Assist class teachers in delivering interactive and differentiated lessons.

• Support children with SEN, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs.

• Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

• Encourage pupil participation, independence, and confidence.

• Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and school activities.

Requirements for a Primary Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with primary-aged children (in schools, tutoring, or childcare settings).

• A good understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behaviour management strategies is desirable.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting young learners.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently when required.

• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
