Security level

This role will require the person to obtain full Security Clearance (SC) You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to Caveat Material which means there are restrictions on nationalities. Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Principal Operations Engineer with LOLER expertise to join their team on a contractual basis. This role is a full-time onsite position based in Barrow, working within an attractive and high-standard environment focusing on uniquely complex submarine solutions. The initial contract is for three months, with the possibility of extension.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Design, planning (including method statements), and risk assessment of lifting operations
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation such as LOLER and PUWER
  • Coaching and mentoring lifting personnel
  • Peer review of complex lift plans
  • Implementing a safe system of work for lifting operations
  • Utilising existing skills within a high-standard environment governed under a nuclear licence


Job Requirements:

  • CPCS A61 Blue Card LOLER Appointed Person - ESSENTIAL
  • CPCS A62 Lifting - DESIRABLE
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD - DESIRABLE
