Clerk of Works

£47 - £62.02 per hour


Morson are currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works to support construction projects for one of our prestigious defence clients based in Barrow-in-Furness. You would work across the major construction lifecycle supporting new builds, renovations and facilities management on site. You would be responsible for the quality inspection of the work of contractors as well as the financial health of your project.

This role is being offered on an initial 12-month contract; full time on site. We're ideally looking for someone with experience of quality inspection of projects within a highly regulated industry such as Defence, Aerospace or Nuclear. Site managers with Clerk of Work experience that also have experience of forecasting, budgeting and reporting would be considered. The role is being offered at a rate of £47 per hour PAYE or £62.02 per hour Umbrella.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting various construction work in comparison with drawings and specifications.
  • Quality checking building materials before installation.
  • Manage contractors on site.
  • Advanced project reporting & scheduling.
  • Manage the construction lifecycle.
  • Manage risks to the success of the project. Apply appropriate PM methods and tools.
  • Accountable for supporting development and implementation of appropriately tailored PM practices.
  • · Track budget and spend, using project management principles to limit overspend.

Requirements

  • Experience of Clerk of Works or Quality Inspection within large construction projects such as industrial or commercial developments.
  • Comprehensive Project Management experience in relation to policies, processes, procedures and systems.
  • Qualifications in Construction or Health and safety such as NEBOSH, IOSH or SMSTS.
  • Experience of building relationships and negotiating outcomes with internal stakeholders.
  • Problem solving skills for situations of moderate complexity in the field of PM, taking requirements and data from internal and external sources.
  • Budget management experience in a project with contractors.

Desired Experience

  • Experience working on a highly restricted site such as Nuclear facilities, military bases, or MoD infrastructure.
  • PM Qualification such as the APM Project Management Qualification.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
