Cost Account Manager
£40.00 - £52.78 per hour
Morson are currently supporting the recruitment of a Cost Account Manager for one of our defence clients based in Barrow-in-Furness. Working within the IT function you would be responsible for managing and controlling the financial aspects of an IT Product Group OpEx budget (circa £40m per annum). Your focus would be on cost accounting, budgeting, financial reconciliation and financial reporting across a number of sub-cost account management budgets. With your overall responsibility to deliver the OpEx budget to cost, we’re looking for someone capable of shaping, planning and submitting future OpEx annual budgets over a 5-year term.
The role is being offered on a 6-month contract, hybrid working Is available with a minimum requirement of 1 day a week on site in Barrow-in-Furness. We can offer the role at a rate £40 per hour PAYE or £52.78 per hour Umbrella.
Responsibilities
- Track OpEx costs by maintaining cost account systems, procedures, processes and practices.
- Monitor and analyse variances between monthly, quarterly and annual budgeted expenses with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for senior management
- Ensure forecast are accurate, articulated and up to date
- Identify and support the implementation of cost savings and efficiencies within the budget
- Progress risk identification, assessment, cost and risk mitigation plans for new proposals
- Participate in financial audits
- Assist in the development of long term OpEx plan
Requirements
- At least 3 years’ experience in Cost Account Management, ideally within an IT function.
- Is generally working to SFIA level 4 so is able to provide consultancy advice, guidance and mentorship to sub-Cost Account Management Teams.
- Experienced in promoting quality improvement and cost reduction
- Has a good understanding of the ITIL4 framework
- Proficient in financial management software (ideally SAP, Oracle, or similar), as well as Excel.
- Strong analytic skills to support cost efficiency and opportunity identification
- Able to conduct risk management assessments
- Knowledge of working within a SIAM operating model would be beneficial
- Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. HNC / Prince 2 Foundations / Computer Science Degree)
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
