My client is currently looking for a Machinist / Toolmaker to join their small friendly team on a permanent basis.
Based in Barrow upon Soar, they supports various sectors in their mechanical engineering and machining requirements, producing one offs, small batches, prototypes, repairs and refurbishments.
A strong mechanical engineering background is essential due to the varied work undertaken.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes.
Experience to include:
- Milling
- Turning
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Work to tight tolerances
- Carry out own inspection
Desirable:
- Boring
- Surface grinding
- Assembly
- Welding / Light Fabrication.
- Fork Lift
Outline of Job Duties:
- To manufacture high quality components in an efficient manufacture, to drawing specifications with minimum supervision.
- Use engineering knowledge to reverse engineer and find solutions to solve engineering problems.
- Quality check own work to ensure high quality parts are manufactured.
- Contribute to the housekeeping of the workshops, maintaining tidy and clean work areas.
- Work in an ethical and professional manner at all times as a representative of the company.
- Flexibility to use other relevant skills and abilities as required.
- Effective communication with colleagues, customers and project teams.
- High standards of reliability and punctuality.
- Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work using own initiative as well as operate as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to respond to the demands of the business.
Hours of work: 39 per week. Part time would be considered.
Monday to Thursday:Â 7.30 am to 4.30 pm Friday:Â 7.30 am to 12.30 pm
Holidays:Â 28 days per annum including Bank and Public Holidays.
Rate of pay: Good rate of pay. Negotiable dependent upon skills and experience
