Full Time / Permanent

Location: Basildon, Essex (with occasional travel to London Mayfair expense paid)

Salary: £85k - £100k DOE (Negotiable, depending on experience) Bonus, Share options, Pension, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays

The Opportunity:Are you a seasoned finance professional with a passion for leadership and a knack for driving financial excellence? We're seeking a dynamic Finance Controller to join our team, reporting directly to the Finance Director. In this pivotal role, you will be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring our company's financial health, regulatory compliance, and strategic success in the investment industry. We are keen to see candidates from Wealth Management / Insurance background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Finance team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee the month-end close process and prepare management accounts.
  • Optimise processes and controls, focusing on automation and efficiency.
  • Maintain and enhance a robust financial control environment.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Payable teams for efficient transaction processing.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, CRS/FATCA reporting, VAT filing, and R&D tax credits.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to your team, fostering growth and development.
  • Collaborate with Operations to improve process efficiency.
  • Liaise with auditors and external advisors for annual reports, accounts, and tax computations.
  • Manage staff payroll and oversee cost management for business safeguarding.
  • Oversee cash flow management and reporting.
  • Support the transition to a unified general ledger/ERP system.
  • Uphold financial policies and ensure process adherence.

About You:

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Background in financial services (banking, investment management, insurance).
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP.
  • Extensive experience with Sage, including analysis codes, integrations, and automation.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (SQL, Python, or VBA is a plus).
  • Experience in general ledger migration, including project management, mapping, and reconciliations.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
