Premier Work Support's client is hiring for an Electrical Design Draughtsman in their office based in Basildon. It is essential for you to have a formal electrical engineering qualification (e.g., apprenticeship). This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, working 8 am - 5 pm.

The majority of our business is the design and assembly of filling and packaging lines for aerosols, with a high proportion for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

The basic equipment is made by our principals in Switzerland. The client incorporates this and other machines into the lines, linking them with our own design conveyors, enclosures, air handling, electrical control systems, and ancillary equipment.

All panel building, wiring, and PLC programming is done on-site, and various other departments specialise in pneumatics, can handling, guard building, machining, machine assembly, commissioning, and documentation.

We are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to work alongside the Automation Technicians to produce the electrical wiring diagrams for our electrical control systems.

Experience & Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g., apprenticeship)

Desirable:

  • In-depth knowledge of EPLAN P8 and Pro Panel 3D is a necessity
  • An EPLAN Certified Engineer (ECE) qualification
  • Familiarity with automated production machinery or other similar capital equipment
  • Has worked in a project environment in cross-functional project teams

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the ongoing drawing transition from AutoCAD to EPLAN, working with the rest of the Automation Department to agree on methods of working and drawing standards
  • Generating electrical drawings and panel layouts, with supporting electrical documentation (Bill of Materials, Component Lists, Cable Schedules, Terminal Rail Layouts, etc.)
  • Ensure all electrical drawings are updated promptly throughout the lifecycle of the project and shared with all relevant departments
  • Maintain a database of preferred electrical devices to ensure consistency in functional hardware from project to project
