We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Basildon.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Produce detailed mechanical designs and drawings for systems and equipment.
  • Generate manufacturing drawings, equipment layouts, and supporting documentation (schedules, BOMs, schematics).
  • Maintain and update mechanical drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with the Drawing Office Manager to meet project timelines and collaborate with Mechanical Technicians and sub-suppliers.
  • Assist with enquiry drawings, site surveys, and other Drawing Office tasks.
  • Provide ongoing support for design modifications and upgrades.

Essential Experience & Knowledge for this Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk products (AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D) or similar CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Experience with drafting standards, particularly BS 8888.
  • Mechanical design experience in an industrial design role.
  • Recognised engineering certification/apprenticeship.
  • Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to interpret equipment assembly drawings and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in design and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of industry-recognised engineering design standards.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with automated production machinery or similar equipment.
  • Knowledge of conveyor and ductwork design.
  • Understanding of ATEX and safety standards for equipment design.
  • Experience working in multi-functional project teams.

Salary:

  • 35,000 - 40,000
