Premier Work Support's client is looking for an Automation Technician for their office in Basildon. This is a permanent full-time position, Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.

All panel building, wiring, and PLC programming is done on-site, and other departments specialise in machine assembly, commissioning, and documentation. We are looking to appoint an Automation Technician to work in our Electrical and Automation Department.

The role is very varied and requires a good understanding of electrical drawings, control panel specification/design, PLC programming, touchscreens, and controls, along with an understanding of vision and SCADA systems. Experience in the pharma industry and/or explosive atmosphere regulations is desirable.

The role also involves working with the electricians and panel builders to design and build the control system and then program and commission the machines at our factory and on-site.

Essential:

  • Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g., apprenticeship)

Some of the typical duties are as follows:

  • Designing PLC-based electrical control systems from design specifications.
  • Programming PLC, touchscreen, and safety configurable relay systems.
  • Configuring remote I/O, servo motor, and inverter drives.
  • Integrating ancillary equipment into the production lines, such as vision systems, etc.
  • Fault finding electrical control systems, PLC, and hardwired systems.
  • Commissioning, support, and service work at customers' sites.

A certain amount of travel is required to support our worldwide customer base. Training will be provided to familiarise the successful applicant with the specialist machinery and equipment the Client supplies
