We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team in Basildon. This role involves working up to trial balance and managing a small team of up to four members. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll management, although this is desirable but not essential. This position requires a hands-on approach to managing the finance operations, ensuring compliance, and overseeing cash flow forecasting.
Day-to-day of the role:- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance department up to trial balance.
- Lead a team of up to four, including a sales ledger clerk and a purchase ledger clerk who also handles stock control.
- Oversee the making of payments, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations.
- Support the sales ledger clerk in dealing with other departments to ensure operational processes are efficient and compliant.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, VAT returns, and PAYE understanding to ensure financial compliance.
- Address and improve any inefficiencies within the finance operations, particularly focusing on areas like stock control where improvements are needed.
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar role.
- Strong understanding of financial management up to trial balance.
- Experience in managing a small team.
- Payroll management experience is desirable.
- Proficient in managing VAT returns and understanding PAYE.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a full-time, in-office environment from 9 am to 5 pm.
