Head of Finance | Basildon | £80k

Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee the finance department and team, ensuring they function efficiently

Develop and implement improvements to the finance function

Monitor, maintain and improve financial controls

Prepare monthly management accounts and report to senior management and the directors

Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis

Ensure the fixed asset register is maintained accurately

Ensure the stock records are maintained accurately

Assist with budgeting and forecasting

Assist with management meetings

Assist with tax planning and profit improvement plans

Complete other ad-hoc requests from senior management and the directors

Liaise with the external accountants, auditors, banks and insurers

File quarterly VAT returns

Ensure compliance with EC Sales documentation

Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations alongside in-house policies

Prepare and analyse data using in-house systems

Simplify complex reports so they are easy for everyone to understand

Ensure accurate, timely, and relevant recording, and analysis of financial information

Oversee the sales ledger and credit control functions

Oversee the purchase ledger function, including review of payment runs

Oversee other general accounting duties and cover members of the team during annual/sick leave

Resolve disputes with external stakeholders

Required skills:

Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

Previous experience working in industry

Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
