Project Accountant - About The Role

The Project Accountant will oversee project accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and budget compliance. This role involves partnering with key stakeholders, project managers and clients to provide financial insights and support.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Implement and improve project accounting processes
  • Ensure project budgets are correctly uploaded, updated and validated by stakeholders
  • Monitor and ensure timely, accurate recording of project transactions, addressing any discrepancies
  • Lead project review processes and manage the reviews
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly reporting, working closely with the wider finance team
  • Track and account for overheads, ensuring accurate reconciliations and balance sheet maintenance
  • Support statutory audit preparation and ensure compliance with financial controls and processes
  • Uphold quality, information security and ESG standards
  • Ensure P&L accuracy, adherence to financial policies and appropriate provisions
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to support business performance
  • Collaborate with finance and business teams on ad hoc tasks as needed

The Project Accountant will have/be:

  • Qualified or part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • Basic tax knowledge and understanding of percentage of completion revenue recognition
  • Strong financial expertise with experience in Balance Sheet, P&L and working with audit teams.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with non-finance managers and stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Team player with strong communication and problem-solving abilities
