Our client is a world-renowned Valve manufacturing company who is growing year on year and offer a great culture and positive team environment. They are looking for a CNC Miller/Turner to come in and produce machined parts.

Job Description:

  • The CNC Machinist will produce machined parts by programming, setting-up, and operating CNC lathes, CNC vertical milling machines, predominantly turning.
  • traditional lathes and milling machines in a safe, reliable and effective manner in our bearing repair workshop. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Determine the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications and mount them safely on the machine prior to beginning cutting metal.
  • Discuss project instruction and specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible.
  • Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts in a range of different ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Experience of machining Various metals • Ability to write Fanuc, Siemens and Hurco programs.
  • Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen and take necessary measures to eliminate errors.
  • Supervise machine operating parameters (e.g. temperature and tool wear).
  • Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary.
  • Management of consumables such as lubricants, tips and drills.

Qualifications, Training and Experience Required:

  • Higher school diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering or machining.
  • Not less than 3 years hands-on CNC milling and turning experience in a manufacturing workshop with not less than 1 years’ experience in a repair workshop. Experience with 4-Jaw chucks are a definite advantage.
  • A comprehensive understanding materials handling including crane driving and slinging.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical skills including manual & CNC machining (milling and 4-jaw chuck turning an advantage)
  • A good knowledge of CNC software and hardware programming skills
  • Problem solving skills, particularly concerning the repair of worn parts where there is evidence of distortion, wear, ambiguous instructions, lack of clear information etc.
  • Effective record keeping.
