Our clients operations span across multiple sites, where they undertake a variety of demolition projects, some focusing on mechanical demolition so some experience here would be needed. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join their dynamic team and ensure the highest standards of safety across all our operations.
Job Description:
As the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing their health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and promoting a culture of safety within the organisation. Your primary focus will be on demolition and waste management projects, although you will be expected to support a wide range of activities across their sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to management and staff.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
- Lead and coordinate incident investigations, reporting findings and implementing preventive measures.
- Deliver health and safety training and inductions to employees and contractors.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on health and safety performance to senior management.
- Foster a strong safety culture through effective communication and engagement with all stakeholders.
- Travel to various sites to conduct inspections, audits, and provide on-site support.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (preferred).
- Proven experience in a senior health and safety role within the waste management or demolition industry.
- Experience in mechanical demolition (experience with explosives not required).
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
