The role of a Teaching Assistant:

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play an integral role in providing tailored support to pupils, ensuring they receive the best quality of education and the tools needed for personal development. Collaborating closely with class teachers, you'll contribute to fostering a supportive teaching environment, allowing each pupil to thrive in their lessons. You may work 1-to-1 with pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties (SPLD), provide small group intervention for pupils with additional needs, or mentor pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Successful Teaching Assistants should have:

  • Previous experience of working with/supporting young learners.
  • Previous experience of, or an understanding of, supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • The ability to foster pupils' academic and personal development through mentorship and coaching strategies.
