Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our vibrant primary school in Bath as a Full-Time Teaching Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including challenging behaviour, SEND, and SEMH.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored learning strategies and interventions.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students, helping them to engage in lessons and develop their academic, social, and emotional skills.
  • Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Help with the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their wellbeing and progress.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience working with children with challenging behaviour, SEND, and SEMH.
  • A deep understanding of the needs of children with additional learning or emotional needs.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • A caring, empathetic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a primary school or similar educational setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant strategies and interventions for managing challenging behaviour and supporting SEMH needs.
  • A proactive approach to professional development.
